Last night, I wamt to install Linux Ubuntu Breezy, and I experienced several problem with it.I boot the DVD perfectly,but then when I about to boot it with expert mode (because I like to influence the machine my way).

It stuck at “Uncompressing Linux … Ok, booting the kernel”.

Duh… so try to boot it again with parameter �expert nolapic acpi=off pnpbios=off”, my machine boot the cd perfectly, well I choose the languages, the keyboard layout but then it failed to detect cd-rom! Orait this is funny, if no can’t detect cd-rom then, I wondering where the hell you boot from?

It keeps asking me whether I have a floppy with DVD-ROM driver, wtf!? Where can I find driver for my DVD room? and I answered no, it prompted me to choose cod rom modules, I tried /dev/carom, nothing happened, then I tried all modules listed, yet still it can’t load cd rom module. This problem goes the same with live cd. Get into console mode (by pressing alt + f2) and executed “ls -al /dev” still I can’t find cd rom drive. I also tried the normal installation mode.

After cramping the whole night trying to boot the cd, I give up. this evening I surfed and I found some people facing same problem with me, after doing some readings and searching I end up with this article http://pcburn.com/article.php?sid=1590 saying that there is some bugs with Jmicron, this release seem to not supporting it and once again I wondering is there any way I can patch the drive on the DVD by editing the ISO on windows. So I search again, (thanks to uncle google) and I come across with an article saying that JMicron support on will be available on ubuntu new version, oh great, now I have to wait for new version to install it on my machine? I got plenty of ubuntu DVD and I can’t use it…arghhh!! or.. or.. Like a said before is there anyway to patch the drive on breezy installation DVD?

Oh please, is there anyone can help me with this problem??

p/s: for those who stay at utm skudai, if you want to try Linux ubuntu or want to have the installation cd, come and take it free at block s42, find it somewhere at 3rd floor. I just going to leave it outside, :) While stock last, 30 cd only 23 Intel 5amd, and 3 power pc.

Going to request for new version of ubuntu, or I just going to use another distro… >_<
