finally i’m finished updating my hardy heron to latest release and to be honest it’s awesome.
Almost everything is new and totally different from previous release,the Gutsy Gibbon. I have a smooth operating system that running at a very minimun power and memory usage, with a pleasent eye-candy effects called compiz.
i bet vista cant do those effects without hogging 50-70% of your 1GB memory.
plus, the new hardy theme based on murrine engine look good. still i wish i could change the default colors since i prefer black because orange killing my eyes
now here come the best part
what i like most is the new gvfs, now i can transfer data through lan network and external harddisk faster. i dont know what’s the trick behind this but the transfer speed increased extremely.
copying file from my roomate computer (windows xp) never be faster than this on Gutsy or windows
it goes the same when i uploaded my stuffs to my friend computer. well, i use their computer as my storage since the got plenty of free spaces. he he he..
and finally, the speed of my internet connection also increased, actually this is the main reason why i stop using windows. linux seem to have good connection handling. eventhough the wifi strength only about 70% yet it still not disconnecting me from the net. and this is what i got when downloading files from rapidshare
behoold…
anyhow, i still have some bugs like my nautilus crash everytime i delete files or empty the trash. so here is the fast fix if you want
go to your $HOME/.local/share/Trash then lock the file by
$ sudo chattr +i *
warning : this is a quick solution that will stop your nautilus from crashing while deleting files. please bare in mind that this will cause your files to be deleted directly without going through your trash. any deleted files can’t be recovered!
“you dont have to do this anymore. this bug already been fixed in latest update”
ubuntu still have a long way to go, i wish it gonna be better and better next time. if you have any great and wonderful idea to be implemented into ubuntu, please share it at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/
can’t wait for final release.
